Maisie Sly

Libby is the protagonist of the short film “The Silent Child” written by the actress Rachel Shenton and nominated for the Oscars of 2018.

Maisie, the lead actress is a middle-class English girl who suffers from deafness, at age six she is a worldwide inspiration for all deaf people, being an ambassador of The National Deaf Children’s Society organization that helps to sensitize people about deafness. She is able to communicate with her parents thanks to the service of a social worker who taught her sign language from birth. Specialists estimate that 90% of deaf children in the United Kingdom have non-signatory hearing parents, which prevents communication between them.

The social inclusion of deaf people is one of the reasons that inspired Shenton to write the script for the film starring Maisie. The actress and director told the media that she had experienced a similar family process, her father lost hearing when she was 12 years old and everyone in the family had to learn to communicate with him.

Due to her young age, this is the first time we have seen Maisie Sly perform, but she has already been critically acclaimed at film festivals around the world, including an award for best actress for Maisie at the International Film Festival of Rhode Island.

The movie “Wonderstruck” is based on the novel by Brian Selznick. Ben (Oakes Fegley) and Rose (Millicent Simmonds) are two deaf children from two different eras who secretly want their lives to be different. Ben wants to have the father he has never met, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she writes in a notebook. When Ben discovers a mysterious clue in his home and Rose reads a tempted headline in the newspaper, both children go on adventures to find what they lack.

Millicent, the actress who plays Rose, was born in the State of Utah (United States), and became deaf around twelve months probably due to the effect of medication. Although her family is a listener and she has a cochlear implant, her mother learned American sign language to communicate with her, thanks to that Millicent has great fluency when it comes to signing. Little by little, his whole family has also been learning sign language.

“Wonderstruck” has been the debut for Millicent in the world of cinema, but for the fans of the actress we announce that it reappears in a film that is titled “The place of silence”, a thriller that will premiere on June 6th. April 2018 in the USA.

With only 13 years, Millie is known internationally as “Eleven”, the name of his character in the series that stars in “Stranger Things”, but this is not her only appearance in the world of the series despite his young age.

Nobody should stop you! ” Her words are a great example for all people and the great career that he has harvested at his young age animates all people to fulfill their dreams despite their limitations.

Her projects do not stop growing and in 2019 she will debut in the seventh art with “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”.
